Global warming spells trouble for US hayfever sufferers

Bad news for hayfever sufferers – allergy symptoms are likely to get worse as global warming hots up.

This is according to new research recently published by the National Academy of Science.

The research measures the length of the ragweed pollen season for the first time and finds it is getting longer the further North you go – up to 27 days throughout the middle of North America from Texas to Canada.

“If these warming trends continue as they are projected to then the health of people with severe allergies or asthma could really suffer,” said the report’s co-author Kim Knowlton.
